Experience

Vikki Velasquez was the Program Manager for Leadership Metro Richmond, a leadership-focused nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering servant leadership. She conducted in-depth research on social and economic issues affecting the Greater Richmond community, such as housing, education, wealth inequality, and historical legacy. She revised and edited educational materials, in partnership with the Director of Education. A certified volunteer manager, Vikki led the leadership volunteer programming, teaching the youth leadership skills. Working closely with the diverse leadership of the community has given Vikki the experience to witness the intersectionality of social and economic factors and how they influence outcomes.

Since her work in the nonprofit, Vikki joined the DotDash quality team as a fact-checker, first with The Balance and now with Investopedia.

Education

Vikki earned her Bachelor of Arts with honors in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies, and minored in Religious Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Vikki earned her volunteer management certification from The Community Foundation for a Greater Richmond.
